Abstract Objective: To investigate general anesthesia combined with thoracic epidural anesthesia in reducing perioperative myocardial injury in elderly patients with radical operation of gastric cancer. methods: Sixty-eight cases of elderly patients with radical operation of gastric cancer were selected as the research objects. The patients were divided into group A (34 cases) and group B (34 cases) by random number table method. The anesthesia method of group A was general anesthesia combined with thoracic epidural block. The anesthesia method of group B was simple general anesthesia. Data of two groups were collected on the SBP,DBP,MAP and HR at the Before anesthesia (T₀), tracheal intubation (T₁), the beginning of the operation (T₂) and the end of the surgical removal of the tracheal tube (T₃). The concentration of plasma creatine kinase isoenzyme MB (CK-MB) and troponin (cTnI) were detected at T₀, T₁, T₂ and T₃. The data of two groups were compared using t test. Results: Compared with group B, The SBP, DBP, MAP and HR of group A were significantly decreased at T₁, T₂ and T₃ (P<0.05). The concentration of CK-MB and cTnI in the group A were significantly lower than those in the B group at T₁, T₂ and T₃ (P<0.05). Conclusion: General anesthesia combined with thoracic epidural anesthesia can reduce perioperative myocardial injury in elderly patients with radical operation of gastric cancer
