Abstract Objective: To analyze the preoperative nutritional screening results of the Mini Nutritional Assessment Short Form(MNA-SF) and nutritional risk screening 2002 (NRS2002) in 242 elderly patients with colorectal cancer and their relationship with prognosis. Methods: MNA-SF and NRS2002 were used to evaluate the nutritional status of 242 elderly patients with colorectal cancer before operation. The relationship between the evaluation results and the clinical prognosis was analyzed, and the value of the two nutritional screening tools was compared. Results: There were 120 cases (49.59%) in MNA-SF nutritional risk group and 122 cases (50.41%)in MNA-SFnormal nutrition group while there were 99 cases (40.91%) in NRS2002 nutritional risk group and 143 cases (59.09%) in NRS2002 normal nutrition group, without significant difference (P>0.05). The consistent rate of test was 91.32%. The nutritional risk screened by MNA-SF and NRS2002 was related to age, course of disease, intestinal obstruction, differentiation degree, TNM stage and lymph node metastasis. 18 patients received nutritional support, including 16 cases (13.33%%) in MNA-SF nutritional risk groupand 1 case (0.82%) in MNA-SFnormal nutrition group, 18 cases (18.18%) in NRS2002 nutritional risk group. The incidence rates of complications in MNA-SF and NRS2002nutritional risk groupwere higher than those in normal nutrition groups, the hospitalization time was longer than that of normal nutrition groups, postoperative recurrence rate and mortality rate were higher than those of normal nutrition groups, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05). There was a statistically significant difference in the length of hospital stay between the MNA-SF nutritional risk group and the NRS2002 nutritional risk group(P> 0.05).Conclusion: MNA-SF and NRS2002 are of high guidance value in preoperative nutritional risk screening for elderly patients with colorectal cancer, and both of them are suitable for clinical nutritional risk screening.
