| Clinical Observation of LCAT combined with Sodium Hyaluronate Eye Drops in the treatment of Pterygium and its Effect on Recurrence Rate and OSDI Score |

Abstract Objective: To investigate the clinical observation of limbal stem cell transplantation (LCAT) combined with postoperative sodium hyaluronate eye drops in the treatment of pterygium and its effect on recurrence rate and ocular surface disease index (OSDI). Methods: 90 patients with pterygium were randomly divided into two groups. The control group received pterygium excision combined with LCAT, and the observation group was treated with sodium hyaluronate eye drops on the basis of the control group. The therapeutic effects of the two groups and the recurrence rate at 6 months after surgery were compared. Ocular surface function, OSDI score, and tear inflammatory factor levels were measured and compared between the two groups. Results: The cure rate of the study group was higher than that of the control group (P<0.05). The recurrence rate of the study group was significantly lower than that of the control group (P<0.05). The ocular surface function of both groups received significant effects at 1 month after surgery (P<0.05). The control group recovered to the preoperative level 3 months after operation (P>0.05). The study group was significantly better than preoperative (P<0.05). The OSDI scores of the two groups were significantly higher than those before surgery (P<0.05). Significantly decreased 3 months after surgery (P<0.05), The OSDI scores of the study group were significantly lower than those of the control group at 1 month and 3 months after surgery (P<0.05). The inflammatory factors of tears in the two groups were significantly increased at 1 month after operation and significantly decreased at 3 months after operation (P<0.05). The IL-1β and TNF-α in the study group were significantly lower than those in the control group at 1 month and 3 months after operation (P<0.05). Conclusion: LCAT combined with postoperative sodium hyaluronate eye drops can significantly reduce dry eye symptoms, reduce inflammatory response, improve clinical efficacy and improve prognosis, and can effectively reduce postoperative recurrence of pterygium.
