Abstract Objective: To explore the correlation analysis of the relationship between plasma ferritin concentration, serum zinc, copper, selenium and magnesium content in the children with febrile seizures. Method: From April 2014 to February 2017, 158 children with febrile seizures were enrolled in this study. 96 healthy children in our hospital were selected as the control group. The levels of plasma zinc, copper, selenium and magnesium in all children were measured. The fever of the children in the observation group, the frequency of convulsions, the duration of each convulsion and 2 weeks of seizures recurrence were recorded. The children in the observation group were subjected to systemic treatment, treatment and antipyretic treatment until the hyperthermia and convulsions disappeared. Results: The blood zinc levels in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P<0.05), but there was no significant difference between the two groups in blood copper, serum selenium and blood magnesium. Compared with the control group, the plasma ferritin concentration, serum iron concentration and hemoglobin concentration were significantly smaller in the observation group, but there was no significant difference between the red blood cell count and the control group in the observation group. There were significant differences in plasma ferritin abnormalities and blood zinc abnormalities between children with different febrile seizures (P<0.05). There were no significant differences in blood copper, blood selenium and blood magnesium abnormalities (P>0.05). Conclusion: Plasma ferritin and blood zinc levels are associated with the incidence and recurrence of febrile seizures in children. To maintain iron and zinc levels in a timely manner, attention should be paid to the prevention and control of febrile seizures.
