Correlation of Serum BNP and CRP with the Severity of Myocardial Injury and Cardiac Function in Elderly Patients with Coronary Heart Disease and Heart Failure |

Abstract Objective: To analyze the correlation of serum brain natriuretic peptide (BNP), and C-reactive protein (CRP) with the severity of myocardial injury and cardiac function in elderly patients with coronary heart disease and heart failure. Methods: A total of 106 elderly patients with coronary heart disease and heart failure admitted to Suining Central Hospital were selected between January 2019 and January 2021. The levels of serum BNP, cardiac troponin I (cTnI) and CRP were detected, and correlation analysis was conducted. Results: Serum BNP, CRP and cTnI levels of the patients enrolled were (578.09±46.17) g/ml, (7.07±1.85) mg/l and (0.050±0.011) ng/ml. Correlation analysis showed that serum BNP and CRP levels were positively correlated with cTnI (P<0.05). There were statistically significant differences in serum BNP and CRP levels between patients with different grades of heart failure (P<0.05). Serum BNP and CRP levels of patients with gradeⅠ~Ⅱ heart failure were significantly lower than those of patients with grade Ⅲ and grade Ⅳ (P<0.05). Serum BNP and CRP levels of patients with grade Ⅲ heart failure were significantly lower than those of patients with grade IV (P<0.05). Serum BNP, cTnI and CRP levels were positively correlated with cardiac function classification (P<0.05). Conclusion:Serum BNP, cTnI and CRP levels are correlated with heart failure in elderly patients with coronary heart disease, when serum BNP, cTnI, and CRP levels are significantly increased, it is necessary to be alert to the aggravation of myocardial injury and the increase of cardiac function.
