Correlation Between Caffeine Citrate Combined with PS on Lung Function and Serum NT-ProBNP and IL-6 Levels in Neonates with Respiratory Distress Syndrome |

Abstract Objective: To study the correlation between caffeine citrate combined with pulmonary surfactant (PS) on lung function and serum levels of amino-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-ProBNP) and interleukin-6 (IL-6) in children with neonatal respiratory distress syndrome (NRDS). Methods: Eighty children with NRDS who were treated in our hospital from July 2019 to July 2020 were randomly divided into observation group and control group, with 40 cases in each group. The control group was treated with PS, while the observation group was treated with caffeine citrate on the basis of the control group. Clinical efficacy, pulmonary function index, serum levels of NT-proBNP and IL-6 and complication rate were compared between the two groups. Results: After treatment, the total effective rate in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group (P<0.05). The ratio of time to peak tidal expiratory flow and total expiratory time in observation group after treatment, TPEF/TE), ratio of expiratory volume at peak tidal flow and total expiratory volume (VPEF/VE) and Tidal volume/kg (VT/kg) were significantly higher than those of the control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the levels of NT-proBNP and IL-6 in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). Compared with the control group, the incidence of complications in the observation group decreased significantly (P<0.05). Conclusion: Caffeine citrate combined with PS has a significant clinical effect on children with NRDS, which is related to the improvement of lung function and the regulation of serum NT-proBNP and IL-6 levels, and can effectively avoid complications.
