Changes in Expession Levels of Branched Chain Amino Acids NT-proBNP and Left Ventricular Function in Patients with Diabetic Cardiomyopathy |

Abstract Objective: To investigate the changes of BCAA and NT-proBNP levels, and the correlation of left heart function in patients with diabetic cardiomyopathy. Methods: A total of 87 patients with diabetic cardiomyopathy, and 50 healthy persons who had received physical examination as control group in the corresponding period. The serum levels of BCAA and NT-proBNP level were determined. Echocardiography was taken to detect the left ventricular enddiastolic diameter (LVEDD), left ventricular end systolic diameter (LVESD), inter-ventricular septum end-diastolic thickness (IVST), left ventricular posterior wall end-diastolic thickness (LVPWT), left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), fraction shortening (FS) and mitral valve peak blood flow velocity E and A to calculate E/A value and Tei index. Results: Compared with the control group, the serum levels of BCAA and NT-proBNP level increased greatly, the difference was statistically significant (P>0.01), LVEDD, LVESD, FS, the A and E/A value was not statistically significant (P>0.05), while IVST, LVPWT, LVEF, the E and Tei index was statistically significant (P<0.05). In patients with diabetic cardiomyopathy, the levels of both amino acid and NT-proBNP in plasma were positively correlated with the Tei index, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion: The content of BCAA in diabetic cardiomyopathy is significantly increased and has a positive correlation with the Tei index, which provides a basis for the early diagnosis of diabetic cardiomyopathy and the progress of the disease.
