Abstract:Objective: To evaluate the efficacy of minocycline hydrochloride ointment combined with metronidazole film in the treatment of periodontal disease by studying anti-inflammatory factors and periodontal index. Methods: 84 patients with periodontal disease were randomly divided into control group and treatment group. The control group was given metronidazole film (containing 0.2560g metronidazole and 0.1024g chlorhexidine acetate) into periodontal pocket twice a week. The treatment group was given minocycline ointment (containing 10mg minocycline hydrochloride) twice a week on the basis of the control group. Both groups were treated for 4 weeks. The clinical indicators, total effective rate and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results: There was no significant difference in plaque index (PLI), periodontal bag exploration depth (PD) and gingival sulcus bleeding index (SBI) between the two groups before treatment (P>0.05); compared with the control group, the plaque index, periodontal bag exploration depth and gingival sulcus bleeding index in the treatment group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). Compared with the total efficiency of the control group, the treatment group was significantly higher (92.86% VS 71.43%, P<0.05). There were no obvious adverse reactions in both groups. Conclusion: Minocycline hydrochloride ointment combined with metronidazole film has a very obvious effect in the treatment of periodontal disease. It can not only effectively improve periodontal index and anti-inflammatory factors, but also ensure the safety and effectiveness.
