Abstract:Objective:To analyze the CT and MRI imaging findings of patients with hypopharyngeal carcinoma and their comparison with pathological features. Methods:The clinical data of 34 patients with hypopharyngeal carcinoma admitted to our Department of Otorhinolaryngology from March 2016 to March 2018 were retrospectively analyzed. All patients were given CT and MRI before treatment. Various signs on the images were observed and recorded, and the results of histological pathology were taken as standards to compare the tumor staging of CT and MRI and the imaging conditions of surrounding tissue structure of tumor involvement. Results:There were 28 cases (82.35%) with the same tumor stage and pathological stage of CT, and there were 30 cases (88.24%) with the same tumor stage and pathological stage of MRI, and there was no significant difference in the coincidence rate of tumor staging of two imaging methods (P>0.05). The results of pathological examination were taken as the standards, and there were no statistically significant differences in the detection rates of invasion of paralaryngeal space, cricoid cartilage, thyroid cartilage, preepiglottic space, arytenoid cartilage and lymph node metastasis by CT and MRI (P>0.05). The detection rate of intramural adipose layer of posterior annulus by MRI was higher than that by CT (P<0.05). Conclusions:CT and MRI both have high accuracy in staging of hypopharyngeal carcinoma, and there is no significant difference in imaging conditions of surrounding tissues of tumor invasion. However, MRI has an advantage in the imaging of intramural adipose layer of posterior annulus.
