Abstract:Objective:To study the correlation of TCM syndrome differentiation with lung function, blood gas analysis and dyspnea scale in patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Methods:A total of 120 patients with acute exacerbation of COPD who were admitted to the hospital from October 2017 to August 2018 were selected as study subjects. According to common TCM syndrome differentiation, the patients were divided into wind-cold attacking lung type (n=30), hot-heat obstructing lung type (n=30), phlegm-dampness obstructing lung type (n=30) and water attacking heart type (n= 30). The lung function [forced vital capacity (FVC), forced expiratory volume in 1 second (FEV1)], blood gas indexes [partial pressure of blood oxygen (PO2), partial pressure of carbon dioxide (PCO2)]and dyspnea scale (MMRC) scores were determined and their correlation with TCM syndrome differentiation was analyzed. Results:The FEV1, FEVl/FVC and PO2 of wind-cold attacking lung type were significantly higher than those of the other three types while PCO2 and MMRC score were lower than those of the other three types (P<0.05). Conclusion: The pulmonary function, blood gas analysis and dyspnea manifestations of patients with acute exacerbation of COPD of different syndrome types are different, which can be used as an auxiliary index for the dialectical typing of TCM.
