Abstract:Objective: To investigate the effect of bridging combination system on femoral shaft fractures in school-age children. Methods: A total of 85 pediatric patients with femoral shaft fracture admitted to our hospital from January 2019 to January 2022 were selected for study. By random number table, they were divided into study group (43 cases) and control group (42 cases) by simple random method. The control group was treated with locking compression plate fixation and the study group was treated with a bridging combination system. The surgical data, fracture healing time and complications of the two groups were compared. The Johner-Wruh functional evaluation criteria were used to evaluate the limb function of the two groups 6 months after surgery. Results: There was no significant difference in incision length between the two groups (P>0.05), but the operation time, blood loss and postoperative drainage volume of the study group were significantly less than that of the control group (P<0.05), the fracture healing time of the study group was shorter than that of the control group, and the incidence of complications was lower than that of the control group (P<0.05). The optimal rate of Johner-Wruh function in the study group was 88.37%, which was higher than 47.62% in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion: The bridging combination fixation system has obvious effect in the treatment of femoral shaft fractures in school-age children, with short healing time and rare complications. It also has a positive effect on postoperative limb function recovery and has high application value.
