Abstract:Objective: To analyze the correlation between bone mineral density and serum vitamin D,insulin-like growth factor-1(IGF-1) and insulin growth factor binding protein-3(IGFBP-3) in children with short stature. Methods: One hundred and forty children with dwarfism admitted to our hospital from March 2016 to March 2021 were selected and included in the Idiopathic short stature (ISS) group and Growth hormone deficiency (GHD) group according to their growth hormone (GH) levels after 2 drug provocation tests,and 40 healthy children with physical examination during the same period were selected and included in the control group.The bone mineral density and serum vitamin D,IGF-1 and IGFBP-3 levels of children in each group were detected,and the correlation between bone mineral density and serum indexes of children with short stature was calculated by Pearson correlation analysis. Results: The bone mineral density of children in the control group,ISS group and GHD group decreased in turn,and the difference between the groups was statistically significant (P<0.05).Children's serum 25- hydroxyvitamin D,IGF-1 and IGFBP-3 in the control group,ISS group and GHD group decreased in turn,and the difference between the groups was statistically significant (P<0.05).Pearson correlation analysis showed that the bone mineral density of ISS and GHD children was positively correlated with serum 25- hydroxyvitamin D,IGF-1 and IGFBP-3 (r=0.627,0.660,0.625,P<0.05). Conclusion: Children with short stature caused by different causes have different degrees of decrease in bone density,and the decrease of bone density in children is closely related to the decrease of serum 25-hydroxy-vitamin D,IGF-1,IGFBP-3.
