Abstract:Objective: To compare the effects of cefixime and cefaclor in treatment of children with acute respiratory infection (ARI) on levels of serum C-reactive protein (CRP), prealbumin (PA) and interleukin-6 (IL-6). Methods: During the period from July 2018 to June 2019, 78 ARI children who were treated in the hospital were enrolled as research subjects. They were divided into control group and observation group with random number table, 39 cases in each group. The observation group and control group were treated with cefaclor and bromhexine hydrochloride for suspension and cefixime for suspension, respectively. The curative effect and disappearance time of clinical symptoms, levels of serum CRP, PA, procalcitonin (PCT), IL-6, interleukin-8 (IL-8) and tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) before and after treatment were compared. The gastrointestinal reactions, adverse reactions such as pus embolus and inflammation during treatment in both groups were statistically analyzed. Results: The total response rate of treatment in observation group was higher than that in control group (94.87% vs 79.49%) (P<0.05), while disappearance time of clinical symptoms was shorter than that in control group (P<0.05). The difference of serum CRP,PA,PCT level and IL-6、TNF-α level in the observation group before and after treatment was greater than that in the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion: Compared with cefixime for Suspension, Cefaclor and Bromhexine Hydrochloride for Suspension is more effective in treatment of ARI children, which can shorten disappearance time of clinical symptoms, and relieve inflammation response.
