Abstract:Objective: To study the serum levels of human epididymis protein 4 (HE4), cancer antigen 125 (CA125) and chitinase protein 40 (YKL-40) in patients with ovarian cancer and their association with pathological features and prognosis. Methods: A total of 92 patients with ovarian masses who underwent surgery in Qionghai Hospital of traditional Chinese Medicine from January 2016 to August 2019 were included in the study. According to the results of surgical pathology, they were divided into benign group (n=52) and malignant group (n=40). The levels of serum HE4, CA125 and YKL-40 were compared between the two groups. The relationship between serum HE4, CA125 and YKL-40 levels and different pathological features was analyzed in patients with ovarian cancer. The survival curves of the subjects were plotted to analyze the association between postoperative serum HE4, CA125 and YKL-40 levels and prognosis of patients. Results: The serum levels of HE4, CA125 and YKL-40 in malignant group were significantly higher than those in benign group (P<0.05). The serum HE4 level in patients with ovarian cancer was correlated with pathological tissue types and lymphatic metastasis (P<0.05), and serum CA125 was correlated with operation staging, tissue types, lymphatic metastasis and age (P<0.05), and serum YKL-40 was correlated with operation staging and lymphatic metastasis (P<0.05). The serum levels of HE4, CA125 and YKL-40 after operation in patients with ovarian cancer were significantly lower than those before operation (P<0.001). According to the median method, patients with ovarian cancer were divided into postoperative serum HE4 high-level group (n=17) and low-level group (n=23), CA125 high-level group (n=15) and low-level group (n=25), YKL-49 high-level group (n=22) and low-level group (n=18). The survival curves of the subjects found there was no significant difference in the survival curve of patients with postoperative serum HE4 high-level and low-level (χ2=2.42, P>0.05), and there was a significant difference in the survival curve of patients with serum CA125 high-level and low-level (χ2=4.12, P<0.05), and there was no significant difference in the survival curve of patients with serm YKL-40 high-level and low-level (χ2=1.94, P>0.05). Conclusion: The serum levels of HE4, YKL-40 and CA125 in patients with ovarian cancer can indicate the condition and prognosis of patients to some extent.
