Abstract:Objective: To investigate the relationship between exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO) concentration with pulmonary function and serum interleukin-17 (IL-17) and immunoglobulin E (IgE) levels in patients with bronchial asthma in non-acute episodes. Methods: 125 patients with non-acute bronchial asthma were enrolled according to the Asthma Control Test (ACT) score: control group (40 cases), partial control group (45 cases), and uncontrolled group (40 cases). Another 40 patients with normal physical examination were selected as the control group. FeNO, lung function indexes and serum IL-17 and IgE were detected in several groups of subjects. The results of several groups were compared and the correlation between ACT scores and FeNO, lung function indicators, IL-17, and IgE was analyzed. Results: Compared with the control group, the level of FeNO in the experimental group was significantly higher, the levels of FEV1 and PEF were significantly lower (P<0.05); In the experimental group, compared with the uncontrolled group, the level of FeNO in the control group was significantly lower, the levels of FEV1 and PEF were significantly higher, and the level of FeNO in the control group was significantly lower, and the levels of FEV1 and PEF were significantly higher than those in the control group (P<0.05). The levels of FEV1 and PEF in some control group were close to those in uncontrolled group (P>0.05); the levels of IL-17 and IgE in the experimental group were significantly higher than those in the control group (P<0.05); the levels of IL-17 and IgE in the control group and some control group were significantly lower than those in the uncontrolled group, and the levels of IL-17 and IgE in the control group were significantly lower than those in the partial control group (P<0.05). FeNO concentration was not significantly correlated with FEV1 and PEF (P>0.05), but positively correlated with serum levels of IL-17 and IgE (P<0.05). Conclusion: FeNO in patients with bronchial asthma in non-acute episodes is closely related to serum IL-17 and IgE, but has no significant correlation with pulmonary function. FeNO combined with pulmonary function can comprehensively reflect asthma control in patients with bronchial asthma.
