Abstract:Objective: To investigate the effects of selective α-2 receptor agonists dexmedetomidine on inflammation, oxidative stress and brain functions in patients undergoing carotid endarterectomy. Methods: A total of 60 patients who underwent carotid endarterectomy in our hospital from January 2018 to December 2021 were randomly divided into control group and observation group. The observation group was given dexmedetomidine anesthesia, and the control group was given routine anesthesia. The neurological function of the two groups were compared. Serum inflammatory factor TNFα, ICAM-1 and oxidative stress factor MDA, IL-6, S100β, neural function markers BDNF, TGF-β1,NSE, were detected. Results: The decreases of TNFα, IL-6, ICAM-1, MDA, S100β and NSE in the observation group was significantly higher than the control group(P<0.05). MMSE score, BDNF, and TGF-β1 in the observation group were significantly higher than in the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion: The selective α-2 receptor agonists dexmedetomidine could inhibit inflammation and oxidative stress, and protect brain functions.
