Abstract:Objective: To compare the therapeutic effect of high flow humidified oxygen therapy and conventional oxygen therapy on pneumonia in elderly patients, and to provide basis for clinical application of high flow rate humidification oxygen therapy. Methods: 80 elderly patients with pneumonia who were admitted to our hospital from October 2016 to December 2019 were selected and randomly divided into the control group and the research group according to different treatment methods. Patients in the control group were treated with transnasal continuous positive pressure ventilation therapy, and patients in the research group were treated with high-flow humidified oxygen therapy. There were 40 cases in each group. The clinical efficacy and PCT, CRP, SpO2, RR, HR levels of the two groups before and after treatment were compared. Results: The comparison of clinical symptom indexes and PCT, CRP, SpO2, RR, HR levels between the two groups before treatment revealed no statistical differences(P>0.05).After treatment, the disappearance time of pulmonary rales, shortness of breath, expectoration and the length of hospital stay were shorter than the control group (P<0.05). PCT, CRP, RR, HR level of the research group were lower, and SpO2 level was higher, than the control group, and the difference was significant (P<0.05). Conclusion: The clinical effect of HFNC in the treatment of pneumonia in the elderly is significantly better than that of traditional oxygen therapy.
