Abstract:Objective: To analyze the relationship between changes of serum neuron specific enolase (NSE),unconjugated bilirubin (UCB),β2 microglobulin (β2-MG) and blood urea nitrogen (BUN) levels in neonates with hyperbilirubinemia and severity of the disease. Methods: A total of 256 neonates with hyperbilirubinemia admitted to the hospital from June 2018 to June 2019 were selected as the observation group.Another 100 healthy neonates born in the hospital during the same period were selected as the control group.According to the total bilirubin (TBIL) level, patients in the observation group were divided into the mild group (TBIL level between 221.00 and 256.50μmoL/L,130 cases),the moderate group (TBIL level between 256.50 and 342.00μmoL/L,92 cases) and the severe group (TBIL level higher than 342.00 μmoL/L,34 cases). The levels of serum NSE,UCB,β2-MG and BUN were compared among groups.Analysis was performed to analyze the correlation between serum NSE,UCB,β2-MG and BUN levels and TBIL in neonates with hyperbilirubinemia. Results: The levels of serum NSE,UCB,β2-MG and TBIL in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group (P<0.05).Levels of NSE,UCB,β2-MG and TBIL were the lowest in the mild group, followed by the moderate group and the severe group (P<0.05).Pearson correlation analysis showed that serum NSE,UCB and β2-MG were positively correlated with TBIL (r=0.549,0.389,0.715,P<0.05),but there was no obvious correlation between the serum BUN level and TBIL (P>0.05).Conclusion: The levels of serum NSE,UCB and β2-MG with hyperbilirubinemia can be used as sensitive indexes to determine the severity of the disease.
