Abstract:Objective:To investigate the early risk factors for pleural effusion in patients with acute pancreatitis. Methods: Clinical data of 73 patients with acute pancreatitis treated in our hospital from October 2016 to August 2018 were retrospectively analyzed. Independent risk factors for pleural effusion in patients with acute pancreatitis were analyzed by chi-square test and logistic regression. Results: Univariate analysis showed that pleural effusion was associated with WBC, CRP, MCTSI scores and peritoneal effusion (all P<0.05), but not with gender, age, BMI, blood glucose, blood Ca2+, blood amylase and alanine aminotransferase (all P>0.05). The WBC, CRP and MCTSI scores in the pleural effusion group were significantly higher than those in the non-pleural effusion group (all P<0.05). However, there were no significant differences in blood glucose and blood Ca2+ levels between the two groups (all P>0.05). Multivariate analysis showed that MCTSI score was an early independent risk factor for pleural effusion in patients with acute pancreatitis (P=0.034, OR=5.311, 95% C.I. : 1.133-24.893). Conclusion: MCTSI score is an early independent risk factor for pleural effusion in patients with acute pancreatitis, and has clinical guiding significance for early prediction and intervention.
