Abstract:Objective: To detect the levels of placental growth factor (PlGF), interleukin-1β (IL-1β), and transforming growth factor (TGF-β2) in aqueous humor and plasma of patients with neovascular glaucoma (NVG), and to explore the relationships between the levels of PlGF, IL-1β and TGF-β2 in aqueous humor and plasma. Methods:42 patients (42 eyes) diagnosed as NVG in our hospital from April 2016 to September 2018 were selected, 50 cases (50 eyes) of patients with age-related cataract (ARC) were selected as control group, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to detect the levels of PlGF, IL-1β and TGF-β2 in aqueous humor and serum. Results: The levels of PlGF, IL-1β and TGF-β2 in aqueous humor and serum of patients in group NVG were significantly higher than those of ARC patients (P < 0.05); the levels of PlGF and TGF-β2 in aqueous humor were significantly higher than those in serum in group NVG (P < 0.05); there was no significant change in the levels of PlGF and TGF-β2 between aqueous humor with serum of ARC patients (P>0.05); the level of IL-1β in the two groups was significantly higher than that in the serum (P<0.05). Pearson test showed that the levels of PlGF, IL-1β and TGF-β2 in aqueous humor and serum of NVG patients were positively correlated (P < 0.05). Conclusion: The levels of PlGF, IL-1β and TGF-β2 in aqueous humor and serum of patients in group NVG are significantly higher than those in control group, it may be related to NVG disease.
