Abstract:Objective: To investigate the expression of serum Proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 (PCSK9) in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) complicated with coronary heart disease (CHD) and its clinical significance.Methods: 90 patients with T2DM who were treated in our hospital from January 2017 to June 2018 were enrolled,40 patients with CHD were included as T2DM combined with CHD group,another 50 patients with simple T2DM as T2DM group,another 40 healthy subjects were selected as the control group.The levels of serum PCSK9, glucose metabolism [Fasting plasma glucose (FPG), glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c) ,fasting insulin (FINS)], lipid metabolism [Total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG), low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C)]and inflammatory factors [Interleukin -6 (IL-6), homocysteine (Hcy) ,high sensitivity C reactive protein (hs-CRP)]were compared between the three groups,the correlation between serum PCSK9 levels and glucose metabolism index, lipid metabolism index and inflammatory factors in patients with T2DM and CHD were analyzed.Results: Serum PCSK9 levels in T2DM combined with CHD group were higher than that in T2DM group and control group (P<0.05).The levels of HbA1c and FINS in T2DM combined with CHD group were higher than those in T2DM group and control group, and FPG level was higher than that in control group (P<0.05).The levels of TC, TG and LDL-C in T2DM combined with CHD group were higher than those in T2DM group and control group, and HDL-C level was lower than that in control group (P<0.05).The levels of IL-6, Hcy and hs-CRP in T2DM combined with CHD group were higher than those in T2DM group and control group (P<0.05).Serum PCSK9 levels in patients with T2DM combined with CHD were positively correlated with FINS, TC, TG, LDL-C, IL-6, Hcy, hs-CRP (P<0.05), and had no significant correlation with FPG, HbA1c, HDL-C (P >0.05).Conclusion: Serum PCSK9 is highly expressed in patients with T2DM and CHD, and its expression level is positively correlated with FINS, TC, TG, LDL-C, IL-6, Hcy and hs-CRP.
