Abstract:Objective: To compare the predicting value of urine Kidney injury molecule-1 (KIM-1) and serum Cystatin-C(Cys-C)for levels of unilateral injury in obstructive renal disease. Methods: 92 patients with unilateral obstructive nephropathy were selected as the subjects. According to the glomerular filtration rate, the patients were divided into mild injury group, moderate injury group, severe injury group, and healthy people as control group. Blood and urine samples were collected on an empty stomach in the morning. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to detect urine KIM-1. Cys-C, serum creatinine (Scr) and urea nitrogen (BUN) were detected in the laboratory. The results were compared and analyzed with GFR. Results: The expression of urinary KIM-1 in the control group was lower than that in the patients (P<0.05), and in the mild injury group was lower than that in the moderate and severe injury group (P<0.05), but there was no significant difference between the moderate and severe injury groups (P>0.05). Cys-C, Scr and BUN had no significant changes in each group. Cys-C, Scr and BUN had no significant correlation with GFR. Conclusion: Compared with Cys-C, Scr and BUN, urinary KIM-1 has potential clinical value in predicting renal injury and degree of injury in unilateral obstructive nephropathy.
