Abstract:Objective: To explore the effect and its clinical significance of regular antiepileptic therapy on the level of T lymphocyte in peripheral blood of epileptic patients. Methods: Among the epileptic patients who were admitted to our hospital during the period of Jan. 2014 to Dec. 2017, 90 cases of epilepsy patients in our hospital were selected for retrospective study, a total of 90 epileptic patients who met the inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria were selected for retrospective study, according to whether the patients took regular antiepileptic drugs in the past 3 months, they were divided into regular medication group and untreated group, and 50 healthy volunteers were selected as the control group in the outpatient department of our hospital during the same period. Peripheral venous blood was collected from the subjects, the peripheral blood T lymphocyte levels of CD3+, CD4+ and CD8+ were measured by flow cytometry, the ratio of CD4+/CD8+ was calculated, and the immunoglobulin levels, such as IgG and IgA, were detected by immunoturbidimetry. The levels of T lymphocyte and immunoglobulin in peripheral blood of three groups were compared. Results: The peripheral blood of patients in regular medication group and untreated group with CD8+ was significantly higher than the control group (P<0.05), CD3+, CD4+, CD4+/CD8+ were lower than the control group (P<0.05), and peripheral blood of CD8+ in regular medication group was lower than that of untreated group (P<0.05), CD3+, CD4+ and CD4+/CD8+ were higher than untreated group (P<0.05). IgG and IgA in the regular medication group and untreated group were lower than those in the control group (P<0.05), while the IgG and IgA in the regular medication group were higher than those in untreated group (P<0.05). Conclusion: The disorder of T lymphocyte and humoral immune function in peripheral blood is common in epileptic patients, while regular use of antiepileptic drugs can effectively correct the disorder of immune function in epileptic patients.
