Abstract:Objective: To explore the impact of group intervention model on mental symptoms and social function of patients with first-episode schizophrenia. Methods: A total of 60 cases of first-episode schizophrenia who were admitted to hospital in 2016 , were randomly divided into intervention group and control group of 30 cases. The intervention group was given the interventi- on of group model in the whole course. The social disability screening schedule (SDSS), the positive and negative syndrome scale (PANSS), drug management forms and awareness of drug knowledge and adverse reactions were assessed at admission, at 3 months and 6 months after discharge. Results: There was no significant difference in the scores of SDSS and PANSS scales between the two groups at admission (P>0.05). 3 months after discharge, the score of SDSS of intervention group was significantly lower than the control group (P<0.01); and the score of positive symptoms, general symptoms and total score in the PANSS scale was lower than the control group (P<0.05), and there was no significant difference in negative symptoms between the two groups (P>0.05). 6 months after discharge, the score of SDSS in the intervention group was significantly lower than the control group (P<0.01), and the scores of positive symptoms, negative symptoms, general symptoms and total socres in PANSS scale were all significantly lower than the control group (P<0.01). The self-management ability of the drug in the intervention group was significantly better than that of the control group at 6 months after discharge (P<0.01), and the awareness of drug knowledge and adverse reactions were also significantly higher than that of the control group (P<0.01). Conclusions: Group intervention can improve the mental symptoms of first episode schizophrenic patients and improve their daily social function, which can be used as one of the effective means of rehabilitation therapy for psychiatric patients.
