Abstract:Objective: To explore the effects of conical telescopic denture on masticatory efficiency, plaque index (PLI) and tooth mobility in patients with periodontal disease and dentition defect. Methods:176 patients with periodontal disease and dentition defect were divided into group A (treated with conical telescopic denture, n=96) and group B (treated with traditional removable denture, n=80) according to different repair methods. The masticatory efficiency of the prosthesis was evaluated by sieving at 1 month, 6 months and 1 year after the repair. The PLI, gingival index (GI) and tooth mobility were evaluated, and the satisfaction degree was investigated. Results: The masticatory efficiency of two groups was poor before repair (P > 0.05). It was gradually improved in 1 year after repair, and the masticatory efficiency of group A was significantly better than that of group B at 1 month, 6 months and 1 year after repair (P < 0.05). Before repair, the PLI, GI and tooth mobility were similar in the two groups (P > 0.05). After repair, the PLI, GI and tooth mobility were significantly decreased, and the decrease in group A was significantly greater than that in group B (P < 0.05). In 1 year after repair, the satisfaction degree of comfort, chewing ability, phonological competence and retention ability of group A was significantly higher than that of group B (P < 0.05). Conclusion: Compared with the traditional removable denture, conical telescopic denture can effectively improve the masticatory efficiency, reduce PLI and tooth mobility, and improve the satisfaction of patients with periodontal disease and dentition defect.
