Abstract:Objective: To investigate the serum level of serum retinin and its clinical significance in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Methods: 120 patients with PCOS admitted to our hospital from January 2016 to July 2016 were enrolled as PCOS group and 120 healthy volunteers were enrolled in this study as healthy control group. Meanwhile, Luteotropic hormone (LH), follicle stimulatin hormone (FSH), testosterone (T), estradiol (E2) and pituitary prolactin (PRL) Fasting serum insulin (FINS) and fasting blood glucose (FBG) were measured. The levels of homeostasis model assessment-insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) and serum retinal omentin. Results: The levels of serum LH and T in PCOS group were significantly higher than those in healthy control group (P <0.05), while the levels of serum FSH in PCOS group were significantly lower than those in healthy control group (P <0.05). The levels of FINS and HOMA-IR in PCOS group were higher (P <0.05). The level of serum Omentin in patients with PCOS was lower than that in healthy controls (P <0.05). The level of serum Omentin was negatively correlated with HOMA-IR index in patients with PCOS (R2 = 0.798; P <0.001) . Conclusions: The decline of serum Omentin will lead to the rise of insulin resistance and indirectly affect the blood glucose level of PCOS patients. It may be used as an adjunctive therapy for PCOS patients as the relevant laboratory index.
