Abstract:Objective: To explore value of E-tracking (ET) technology in evaluating the carotid elasticity in hypertensive patients. Methods: Seventy-eight hypertensive patients were divided into two groups according to the intima-media thickness(IMT)of carotid artery, group A (36 cases): IMT≤1.0mm, group B (42 cases): IMT>1.0mm,and normal control group (75 cases). Using ET technology to track the movement of common carotid arterial wall and measure the parameters: stiffness parameters (β), elastic coefficient (Ep), and arterial compliance (AC). Results: The values of Ep and β in group A and group B were significantly higher than those in control group. The AC values in group A and group B were lower than those in control group, and there were also significant differences. The values of Ep and β in group B were higher than those in group A, there was a significant difference between the two groups, while the AC value was lower than that in group A, with significant difference. Conclusions: ET technology can reflect the vascular endothelial function earlier. It is a simple and useful method in evaluating the vascular changes of hypertensive patients.
