Effect of Photodynamic Therapy Combined with Hormone Therapy on the Improvement of VSS Score and Expression of p-STAT3 and Egr-1 in Patients with Hypertrophic Scars

Abstract:Objective: To investigate the effect of photodynamic therapy combined with hormone therapy on the improvement of VSS score and the expression of p-STAT3 and Egr-1 in patients with hypertrophic scars. Method: A total of 124 patients with hypertrophic scars treated in our hospital from January 2014 to July 2016 were randomly divided into control group and observation group, with 62 patients in each group. The control group was treated with glucocorticoid alone. The observation group was treated with photodynamic therapy on the basis of the control group. The VSS score and the curative effect were evaluated and analyzed before and after treatment. The levels of p- STAT3, Egr-1 expression. Results: After 2 months of treatment, the VSS score of the observation group was significantly lower than that of the control group (P <0.05). The treatment efficiency of the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group (P <0.05). After treatment, the levels of p-STAT3 and Egr-1 in both groups were significantly decreased (P <0.05), and the two indexes in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P <0.05). There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P> 0.05). Conclusion: The combined use of photodynamic therapy and glucocorticoid can effectively inhibit the expression of p-STAT3 and Egr-1 in patients with hypertrophic scar and reduce the score of VSS, which has better therapeutic effect and has certain safety.
