Abstract:Objective: To analyze the effect of enteral spray of Kuijieling on the intestinal mucosal immune function and levels of inflammatory factors in patients with ulcerative colitis (UC).Methods: Ninety patients with UC were randomly divided into the experimental group (n=45) and the control group (n=45).The control group was treated with oral administration of sulfasalazinecapsule while the experimental group was additionally treated with enteral spray of Kuijieling. The relief of endoscopic ulcer, erosion and bleeding points was observed before and after treatment. The serum immunological and inflammatory factors, including immunoglobulins (IgG, IgM, IgA), T cell subsets (CD4+, CD8+), tumor necrosis factor α(TNF- α), interleukin -1β(IL-1β) were detected. Results: The results of endoscopy showed no significant differences between the two groups before treatment (P> 0.05). After treatment, the incidence rates of endoscopic ulcer, erosion and bleeding were significantly decreased (P< 0.05), and the incidence rates in experimental group (4.44%, 11.11%, 8.88%) were significantly lower than those in the control group (17.78%, 28.89%, 24.44%) (P< 0.05). Before treatment, the immunoglobulins, T cell subsetsand levels of serum inflammatory factors showed no significant differences between the two groups (P> 0.05). After treatment, the above indexes were significantly improved (P< 0.05), and the levels of IgG, IgM, IgA, CD8+, IL-4 and IL-10 in the experimental group were significantly higher than those in the control group while the levels CD4+, TNF- α and IL-1β were significantly lower than those in the control group (all P< 0.05).Conclusion: Enteral spray of Kuijieling can significantly enhance the clinical therapeutic effect of UC, relieve endoscopic ulcer and erosion, enhance theintestinal mucosal immune function and regulate the levels of inflammatory factors.
