Abstract:Objective: To discuss the effects of WBC, CRP and WBC on diagnosing brain surgery patients with fever. Methods: 98 brain surgery patients with fever who accepted treatment in our hospital from Aug.2014 to Aug. 2015 were included in this study and divided into two groups according to the infection degree. 46 patients were in the infection group and 52 cases in non-infection group. On the other hand, 50 patients accepted brain surgery patients without fever were selected as control group. Results: The CRP, WBC level of infection group and non-infection grouop were significantly higer than those of the control group(P<0.05). There was no significant different between the control group and non-infectin group of the PCT level(P>0.05) whereas the PCT level of infection group was significant higher than the other two group(P<0.05). The sensitivity and specificity of PCT were significantly higher than CPR and WBR (P<0.05), and the area under ROC curve was close to 1. Conclusion: PCT has the better diagnosing effect comparing to CRP and WBC, especially when patients with fever, which could be the main index of the clinical diagnosis.
